It all began with using chain for kumihimo. It's a little tricky to start and finish -- since you can't just tie your chains together, you need to start by bringing a wire though the end link on each of the eight lengths. This is easy enough at the start; a little more challenging at the finish.
But what happens when you decide to use 1.5mm ball chain, which doesn't have any open links?
Tip #2: Finishing is a LOT harder! You don't want to take the chains off the disk until they are secure, but it's really hard to secure them while still on the disk.
Tip #3: I finally decided to place a crimp on each chain without cutting the chain, so I could take one chain out of its notch to add the crimp, then placed it back in to do another. I couldn't be sure that they were all at the same length, but I figured I'd be close.
