A customer showed me this technique a few months ago (thanks Caroline!). I couldn't remember it after she'd left, of course, but who needs memory when we have the internet, huh?
If you're a mixed media / leather / cord / improvisational type of person, you'll like this. There are probably other names, but I most recently saw this referred to as a Spanish knot.
You'll need large hole beads in order to fit them on both leather cords (test the beads first!). Here's my first project using jasper rondelles and variegated leather.
I haven't had a chance to try much with this, but the knots are so simple and decorative they work pretty well just by themselves. I want to try leaving some gaps between knots, perhaps with a bead on just one cord. If you've worked with this or have your own designs we'd love to see them.
